Police bust Cambodia-Vietnam drug trafficking ring
VOV.VN - The police of the southwestern border province of Tay Ninh have smashed a drug trafficking ring moving illegal substances from Cambodia into Vietnam, arresting seven people and seizing 58 kg of drugs.
According to the police, the ring was masterminded by Phan Van Tien, 36, and Dang Thanh Tuan, 44, both residing in the southern province of Dong Nai.
Both Tien and Tuan were caught red-handed on November 11 loading the drugs from a car into a house located in Hoa Thanh town.
The police seized 58 kg of synthetic drugs, one gun, 11 bullets, two cars, six motorbikes, six mobile phones, and other related exhibits. Expanding investigations, they arrested five other suspects.
Tuan and Tien later confessed that in July an unknown Cambodian man contacted them via Telegram and hired them to transport the drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam for US$800 per kg.
After that, the suspects divided the drugs into small bags, ranging from one kg to five kg, and then gave them to shippers to transport them to Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Duong for sales.
A further investigation into the case is now underway.
