Drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam busted
VOV.VN - Police forces operating in Hanoi on November 12 said that they have smashed a major drug trafficking ring which had been transporting illegal substances into the nation from Laos.
The mastermind behind the ring was identified as Tran Ngoc Duc, 34, residing at Bach Mai street in Hai Ba Trung district.
According to initial information regarding the case, Duc directly bought the drugs from Laos and hid them boxes disguised as agricultural products. The shipments were then sent to Hanoi by passenger coach. After that, police noted that Duc had been distributing the drugs to other retailers around the city for consumption.
Upon expanding the case, the police managed to catch Nguyen Dinh Huy and Nguyen Tuan Anh, both of whom reside in Dong Da district, red-handed as they were in the act of organising the use of illegal drugs.
When searching Duc and Huy’s residence, the police managed to seize a total of 10 heroin cakes, 12 bags of "happy water", 0.54 grams of ketamine, 18,64 grams of Methamphetamine, two electronic scales, and nearly 2,000 pills of synthetic drugs.
Another suspect was Le Thi Loan, 32, who Duc’s drug buyer and was also arrested with two plastic bags containing white crystals and pink tablets, one plastic bag containing brown powder, 13 bags of "happy water”, and one electronic scale.
Loan later confessed that the drugs was intended to be sold to customers in Hanoi. A further investigation into the case is now underway.
