More than 350 Vietnamese citizens safely repatriated home from UK
VOV.VN - More than 350 Vietnamese citizens were safely brought home from the UK on a repatriation flight carried out by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 2-3.
Passengers on board the flight were those who were left stranded due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. They included children under 18, students without accommodation due to dormitory closure, pregnant women, elderly people, people suffering from serious illnesses, stranded holidaymakers and others in special circumstances.
The Vietnamese Embassy in the UK worked closely with relevant agencies of the host country to assist the citizen with travel and necessary procedures before their departure.
Vietnam Airlines took necessary measures to prevent the possible spread of the virus during the flight.
Upon landing at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, all the crew members and passengers were given medical checkups and put under quarantine in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
Vietnamese authorities and relevant bodies overseas are arranging additional repatriation flights aimed at bringing home more stranded Vietnamese citizens in the near future.
