Hue holds memorial, reburial ceremony for remains of Vietnamese soldiers
A memorial and burial ceremony was held on May 23 at Hue city Martyrs’ Cemetery for the remains of 10 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos during the war.
The remains were recovered during the 2024–2025 dry season by Team 192 under the municipal Military Command, with support from authorities in Laos’s Salavan and Sekong provinces. Over the past 30 years, the city has repatriated 963 sets of remains after 28 missions.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Chi Tai emphasised the significance of the effort as a meaningful act, reflecting Vietnam’s tradition of honouring its fallen heroes and strengthening the special bonds between Vietnam and Laos.
The ceremony was marked by solemn tributes, including incense and wreath offerings, as officials and citizens paid respects to those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and international solidarity.
