Commemoration of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers held in Laos
VOV.VN - A memorial and requiem ceremony for the heroic Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and Lao national heroes was held in Luang Prabang on December 22 to honour and remember those who sacrificed their lives for independence, freedom, and noble international missions.
In her speech, Kieu Thi Hang Phuc, Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang, recounted the glorious traditions of the Vietnamese military and people. She highlighted the revolutionary ideals and international solidarity that bound Vietnamese soldiers and the Lao military and people together.
The sacrifices of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, whose blood mingled with that of Lao soldiers and civilians, deepened the red of the revolutionary flag, and this legacy has become the foundation for the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos today, she noted.
Bounkhong Lachiemphone, Governor of Oudomxay Province, stated that the ceremony was of profound significance in honouring the contributions of both countries heroes. He emphasized the shared responsibility of future generations to cherish and preserve the revolutionary achievements and to foster the everlasting friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Lachiemphone also expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party and people, acknowledging the foundational contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and President Souphanouvong to establishing the unique and enduring bond between the two nations.
The ceremony was held according to Lao and Vietnamese customs.
