Remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers repatriated from Laos

A ceremony to commemorate, hand over and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives during the war in Laos was held on May 21 at the Military Command Headquarters of Salavan province in southern Laos.

The event was attended by representatives of the Party Committee, administration and Special Task Force Committee of Salavan province; a delegation from Hue city’s Steering Committee 515 led by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Chi Tai; representatives of the Special Task Force Committee of Sekong province; officers of the armed forces, and local people.

During the 2024–2025 dry season, Search Team 192 of the Military Command of Hue city searched and recovered the remains of 10 volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos, with support from Salavan and Sekong provinces.

After the memorial ceremony, the remains were repatriated for reburial in the home country. The effort reflects deep gratitude for fallen heroes and highlights the enduring Vietnam–Laos friendship.
