High return-to-work rates in HCM City and Da Nang after Tet holiday
VOV.VN - Nearly 90% of workers at enterprises with labor unions in Ho Chi Minh City have returned to work after the nine-day Lunar New Year 2025 (Tet) holiday, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation.
As of February 3, the sixth day of Tet, 85.33% of workers, equal to 921,123 people, at more than 12,600 enterprises with labour unions in Ho Chi Minh City had resumed work.
In government agencies, units, and state-owned enterprises, this rate reached nearly 99%. The remaining businesses are expected to resume operations between February 5 and February 7, the eighth to 10th day of the lunar month.
At export processing zones, industrial and high-tech parks, 91.29% of enterprises, equivalent to 157 businesses, with over 45,700 workers have resumed operations.
The Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation has urged its affiliated units to closely monitor labour relations, firms, production activities, and compliance with labour law at enterprises.
In particular, businesses must ensure workers receive full payment of their January salaries and any applicable bonuses. Companies are also required to report daily on worker attendance from February 4 to February 12 to the Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation.
The federation has called for co-operation efforts with relevant agencies to support businesses when it comes to recruiting additional workers, especially those with new production orders, while ensuring also employment connections for workers.
Meanwhile, in the central city of Da Nang, 80% of workers based in industrial and high-tech parks had returned to work as of February 2.
The Management Board of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones currently oversees 500 firms employing 70,000 workers, including 129 foreign-invested enterprises.
Following the nine-day Tet holiday, 80% of workers at industrial parks across Da Nang have resumed work. Most companies restarted production on the sixth day of Tet. A strong influx of orders is viewed as a positive sign for many enterprises in Da Nang in the early days of the new year.
Tran Van Ty, deputy head of the Management Board of Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, noted that before the festive period, many businesses and labour unions in Da Nang offered various wage and bonus policies to retain workers and encourage their long-term commitment moving forward.
