Four Vietnamese localities record 75 community infections over 12 hours

VOV.VN - A further 75 fresh domestic cases were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in four Vietnamese localities over the past 12 hours, while two more imported infections were detected in Tay Ninh province, the Ministry of Health reported on June 5 morning.

The 75 new cases comprise 45 in Bac Giang, 19 in Bac Ninh, 10 in Ho Chi Minh City and 1 in Ha Nam.

The cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are mostly associated with clusters at industrial zones, while those detected in HCM City are related to a Christian congregation based in Go Vap district.

The one case in the northern province of Ha Nam came into contact with a confirmed coronavirus patient.

The new infections have brought the national count to 6, 819, including 5,249  in the ongoing COVID-19 wave. The overall number of imported cases is now 1,545.

One day earlier, the country recorded a total of 224 new infection, including 219 locally-transmitted cases, and five imported ones.

The death toll relating to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic stands at 51 after two further fatalities were confirmed on June 4.

According to data provided by the Treatment Subcommittee, as of  June 4,  the whole country had 8,266 infected patients, of which more than 3,240 patients were discharged from hospital, accounting for 40.5%.

Since the nation was hit by the resurgence of the virus on April 27, as many as 5,298 cases of local transmission were confirmed, including 4,756 undergoing treatment (88.11%), 7 critically ill patients who are receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a sophisticated form of therapy that is used to save the lives of patients in a critical condition.

Vietnam currently has 129 COVID-19 patients with severe prognosis, with most of them relying on mechanical ventilators.

As of June 4, more than 1,217,600 people received COVID-19 vaccine shots, including a total of 32,401 vaccinated with full two doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
