Domestic infection tally up by 109 at midday

VOV.VN - A total of 112 fresh COVID-19 cases, including three imported infections, and 119 local transmissions were confirmed by the Ministry of Health at noon on June 19.

The 109 local cases found in eight localities  comprise Ho Chi Minh City (64), Bac Giang (22), Bac Ninh (14), Long An (3), Hoa Binh (2), Nghe An (2), Lao Cai (1),  and Hanoi (1), including 91detected in isolation or lockdown areas.

The new cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces were mostly detected in isolation and lockdown area, and related to workers working at industrial zones.

Among the 64 cases in Ho Chi Minh City, the nation's emerging coronavirus epicenter, 15 are identified as F1 contacts who came into close contact with previously confirmed patients, 4 are linked to the Christian mission cluster, and the remaining cases are under epidemiological investigation.

The fresh cases found in other localities are either F1 contacts or related to confirmed outbreaks and under epidemiological investigation.

With the latest discovery, the nation has so far confirmed 10,945 locally-transmitted cases, including 9,375 since the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country in late April.

The imported infection count increased to 1,675, while the fatality count stands at 62.

As of 4 pm on June  18,  a total of 2,233,208  million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, with more than 105,850 having received the prescribed two doses.

An additional 249,915 people were inoculated against COVID-19 on June 18 alone.
