Vietnam records another COVID-19 death, 62 cases so far
VOV.VN - The Treatment Subcommittee under the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on June 18 confirmed the death of another person caused by COVID-19 and pulmonary tuberculosis, increasing the nation’s overall fatality count to 62.
The deceased patient is a 71-year-old woman from the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
She had suffered pulmonary TB and type 2 diabetes for more than 10 years.
The patient had been treated at a medical center located in the southern province of Tay Ninh in the state of fatigue, slow contact, chest pain, with a diagnosis of COVID-19 pneumonia complication by progressive respiratory failure.
The patient later relied on a ventilator, and received intensive care. However, due to the rapid progression of the infection, and worsening respiratory failure, she failed to well respond to treatment.
She died on June 14 with a diagnosis of pneumonia caused by COVID-19, complications of respiratory failure, septic shock on a patient with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), hypertension, and diabetes.
This is the 27th COVID-19 death during the fourth COVID-19 wave and the 62nd fatality since the first outbreak last year.
