Vietnam reports 94 local COVID-19 cases, with nearly half in HCM City
VOV.VN - The nation recorded 94 more domestic COVID-19 infections across 8 localities, including 40 in Ho Chi Minh City, in the past 12 hours to 6:00 am on June 19, lifting the national tally to 10,836, according to the Ministry of Health.
The new cases were domestically recorded in HCM City (40), Bac Ninh (15), Nghe An (13), Binh Duong (12), Bac Giang (9), Tien Giang (3), and one each in Ha Tinh and Da Nang.
Most of the cases in the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are associated with existing outbreaks in their industrial parks.
38 out of 40 cases in HCM City had made contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients, while the new cases found in other localities are either F1 contacts or associated with confirmed outbreaks and under epidemiological investigation.
Thus, as of 6:00 am on June 19, Vietnam documented a total of 10,836 domestic cases and 1,672 imported ones.
One day earlier, the country recorded a total of 264 new cases of COVID-19, including 259 local transmissions, and five imported ones, with Ho Chi Minh City suffering the highest number of infections at 149.
The overall number of locally-transmitted cases in the latest COVID-19 wave since April 27 is 9,266, including 1,938 being declared to be clear of the SARS-CoV-2-virus.
23 localities have gone at least 14 days without any new COVID-19 case in the community.
