COVID-19: Vietnam confirms two more cases, total hits 1,036
VOV.VN - Vietnam has registered two more coronavirus cases, including a locally transmitted infection in Da Nang, bringing the country’s tally of infections to 1,036, the Ministry of Health said in its August 27 update at 18.00hrs.
A 52-year-old man in Da Nang’s Cam Le district tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on August 26 after having contact with three COVID-19 patients. He is now being quarantined at Hoa Vang field hospital for medical surveillance and treatment.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old woman of Hai Duong province was diagnosed with the virus upon her return to Vietnam from Taiwan (China) on August 7. Notably, the case was only confirmed after three subsequent tests, of which the first two tests had proved negative.
She is now being quarantined for treatment at a medical centre in Khanh Hoa province, central Vietnam.
The same day, the centrally-run Hue hospital in Thua Thien Hue province discharged three COVID-19 patients who also suffered from severe illnesses such as chronic renal failure and hypertension. All the three responded well to treatment and met criteria for hospital discharge.
As of 18.00hrs, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,036 COVID-19 patients of whom 637 have recovered from the disease. Another coronavirus fatality was announced on August 27, raising the death toll caused by the disease to 30.
Of the remaining 369 cases, 144 patients have tested negative for the virus at least once.
Currently, nearly 71,000 people who have come into contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from epidemic hit countries are under health monitoring in hospitals, at homes or other places of residence.
