COVID-19: No new cases in seven straight mornings, tally at 1,034

VOV.VN - Vietnam has continuously kept the latest coronavirus outbreak under control as it registered no new cases on August morning 27, the seventh morning in a row, keeping the country’s tally of infections at 1,034 and death toll at 29.

The Ministry of Health announced no new locally transmitted infections on August 26 except for five cases returning from overseas. This indicates the disease has been brought under control nationwide although very few cases detected here and there.

As of 06.00hrs August 27, Vietnam has recorded 687 locally acquired coronavirus infections, including 547 cases closely linked to Da Nang outbreak, the country’s largest so far.

Out of 1,034 cases the country has registered so far, 632 cases have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery.

The remaining 373 cases are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country, with 144 cases having tested negative at least once.

The Ministry of Health announced an additional two fatalities on August 26, raising the death toll to 29. Most of the patients have died of COVID-19 and severe illnesses such as end-stage kidney cancer, severe pneumonia, diabetes and multi-organ failure.
