Vietnam confirms another COVID-19 fatality, death toll rises to 30

VOV.VN - A 51-year-old woman who had been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus passed away on August 27 morning, taking the country’s death toll caused by the virus to 30, the Ministry of Health announced.

The patient, a resident of Da Nang city, the country’s largest coronavirus outbreak, died at its Hoa Vang District Field Hospital.

The causes of her death can be put down to end-stage chronic renal failure, heart failure, and hypertension.

Vietnam has reported 30 coronavirus fatalities, including more than 20 in Da Nang, since the virus resurged in the city, a famous tourist destination in central Vietnam in late July.

Most of the fatalities are elderly people who also suffered from severe illnesses such as end-stage kidney cancer, severe pneumonia, diabetes and multi-organ failure.

Since the resurgence of the virus, 687 locally acquired coronavirus infections have been registered in 17 cities and provinces nationwide, with 547 cases closely linked to the Da Nang outbreak.

Da Nang is the hardest hit locality with 378 cases, followed by Quang Nam, Hai Duong, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

As of 06.00hrs August 27, Vietnam has confirmed a total of 1,034 cases, including 632 recoveries.

The remaining 372 cases are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country, with 144 cases having tested negative at least once.
