172 sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers repatriated from Cambodia
VOV.VN - A ceremony was held at Xa Mat international border gate in Tay Ninh province on June 28 to receive 172 sets of remains of volunteer Vietnamese soldiers who had died in Cambodia during the past war.
The remains were found in five Cambodian provinces of Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meancheay, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, and Tbong Khmun from March 1 to June 28, 2024.
They were excavated, gathered and repatriated by Vietnamese teams K70 and K71 with assistance from the administrations of the five Cambodian localities.
At the hand-over ceremony, Colonel Do Thanh Viet, Deputy Political Commissar of the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command, appreciated the two search teams and thanked Cambodian authorities and people for assisting the two teams during the mission.
The remains were immediately brought to Hill 82 Martyrs Cemetery of border Tan Bien district, awaiting a solemn reburial.
