From March 9, the cold air will begin to affect northern mountainous areas before strengthening over the Northeastern region later in the afternoon and evening, then spreading to the north-central provinces and most parts of the Northwestern region.
From the night of March 9 to March 10, northern and north-central localities are anticipated to turn colder, with lowest temperatures ranging from 15–18°C, while mountainous areas may see temperatures below 14°C.
In Hanoi, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast from March 8 to the night of March 9, before colder conditions set in from the night of March 9–10. Temperatures during this cold spell are set to drop to 16–18°C.
Rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected across northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces in the central region from the night of March 8 to March 9, with localised moderate to heavy rainfall. From March 10, rainfall is forecast to gradually decrease.
Meanwhile, from March 9–10, provinces from Ha Tinh to Gia Lai in the central region may experience moderate rain and thunderstorms, with localised heavy downpours. Thunderstorms could be accompanied by lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
