State President encourages OV contributions to Vietnam’s new era of advancement

VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong called on overseas Vietnamese (OV) to contribute to a new era of development for the Vietnamese nation during the Homeland Spring 2025 programme held in Hanoi on January 19 evening.

The President shared his joy and emotion upon meeting with approximately 1,000 Vietnamese expatriates returning for the annual programme, as Vietnam prepares to welcome the Year of the Snake.

He highlighted key achievements the country recorded in the past year, noting that despite numerous challenges, with the collective effort of the Party, the people, Vietnam has achieved significant progress. These gains, he said, were significantly contributed by overseas Vietnamese worldwide.

He then reaffirmed the Party and State’s consistent policy of considering Vietnamese overseas an indispensable part of the nation. He was happy to see that amidst difficulties and uncertainties globally, especially in areas affected by war or natural disasters, Vietnamese expatriates remain resilient, with steadfast determination to work towards a better life.

The President also emphasized the spirit of national unity and mutual assistance that overseas Vietnamese extend to their homeland and fellow countrymen, especially demonstrated during the historic Yagi typhoon last year.

He noted that 2025 is a special year for Vietnam as it particularly marks the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 80th founding anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

Looking toward the future, the President said Vietnam is preparing a solid foundation to confidently step into a new era of development, and the country must seize every opportunity and historical advantage to realise the goal.

He called on Vietnamese people to “come together and contribute to this great journey of our nation” no matter where they live.

“The policies and initiatives related to Vietnamese people living abroad will continue to be implemented comprehensively and more effectively, that reflect the deep affection and responsibility of the Party and the State in better meeting the legitimate aspirations and hopes of our compatriots abroad. In the process of building and developing the country, the Party and the State always value and emphasize the contributions of our compatriots living abroad. Together, we strive to realize the goal of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam,” stressed the President.

During the programme, delegates and overseas Vietnamese were treated to impressive artistic performances that highlighted the journey of making history and evoking pride in the great achievements of the nation.
