Party chief hosts Lao public security delegation

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on January 12 for a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Ministry of Public Security, led by General Vilay Lakhamphong, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security.

The Party leader commended the visit as a significant contribution to the implementation of high-level agreements on defence and security cooperation, further reinforcing the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

He congratulated Laos on its remarkable achievements, particularly in implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress. These accomplishments include maintaining political stability, bolstering national defence and security, driving socio-economic development, and excelling in foreign affairs. Notably, Laos successfully chaired ASEAN and the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45).

Reaffirming Vietnam's unwavering commitment to its relationship with Laos, Lam described the enhancement of their special solidarity as a strategic priority vital to the development of both nations. He pledged Vietnam’s continued support for Laos' progress and expressed readiness to share experience across a variety of fields for mutual benefit.

The host leader also hailed the close and effective cooperation between the two public security ministries. He urged them to build on their strong tradition of collaboration by sharing intelligence, combating transnational crime, particularly drug trafficking, and countering activities by hostile forces aimed at destabilizing either nation.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring a shared borderline of peace, stability, and cooperation while firmly opposing any attempt to use one country’s territory to undermine the other.

On this occasion, Lam extended his best wishes to Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and other senior Lao leaders.

In response, General Vilay Lakhamphong conveyed warm regards from Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun to Party General Secretary Lam and congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the nation would accomplish even greater successes, fully realize the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and effectively prepare for the 14th Congress in early 2026.

Vilay expressed profound gratitude for Vietnam’s steadfast and timely support, including its assistance in helping Laos successfully host the ASEAN and AIPA summits in 2024. He briefed Lam on Laos' recent developments and the implementation of its national congress resolutions, emphasizing the fruitful collaboration between the two ministries of public security.

He pledged that the Lao Ministry of Public Security would continue to uphold the close-knit cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart, jointly safeguarding national security, maintaining public order, and contributing to the enduring special relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
