Official urges closer Vietnam-Denmark collaboration in policy research

Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theory Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Nguyen Xuan Thang has called for closer connection between HCMA and Danish policy research institutions to carry out joint studies on areas of shared interest.

At a reception in Hanoi on March 5 for Chairman of the Danish Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee Michael Aastrup Jensen, Thang expressed his admiration for Denmark’s remarkable development achievements, noting its status as one of the world’s happiest nations with high living standards.

As Vietnam is set to enter a new era of the nation’s rise, the country is undertaking institutional and political system reforms while restructuring state management at all levels. At the same time, it is fostering new growth drivers and inspiring a strong national spirit, self-reliance, confidence, resilience, a sense of pride and aspiration for national development, he said.

Praising Denmark’s role in holding the annual seminar marking Nordic Day (March 23) in its collaboration with Nordic embassies in Vietnam, Thang proposed the committee share its insights on global shifts, medium-and long-term trends, and Denmark’s approach to law-making amid global uncertainties.

He also extended his invitation to Danish experts to visit the HCMA for discussions on pressing global issues such as digital transformation, green transition, and circular economy.

Jensen, in response, said he is impressed by Vietnam’s economic growth and progress toward achieving independence, social welfare and cultural development. He underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in a more practical and effective manner to elevate the bilateral relations to a higher level in the near future.

Highlighting Denmark’s strong interest in assisting Vietnam in renewable energy, green growth, infrastructure development, marine economy, and circular economy, he affirmed that the Danish Parliament treasures its partnership with Vietnam and remains committed to further improving the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
