Denmark views Vietnam as important partner in region, says Parliament speaker Gade

VOV.VN - Denmark considers Vietnam an important partner in the region and an ideal destination for its investors, Danish Parliament Speaker Soren Gade told visiting Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Copenhagen on November 26.

Receiving the Vietnamese Deputy PM, Gade welcomed Ha’s working visit which he believed would play an important role in effectively implementing the frameworks of the Comprehensive Partnership and Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

He expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements over the past decades, which have propelled the country to strong development and deep international integration, and expected that the Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Denmark would continue to be strengthened and reach new heights.

The Danish parliamentary leader also positively spoke highly of the role of Vietnamese expatriates in Denmark, recognizing them as good citizens, hardworking, making significant contributions to the local society.

Ha for his part emphasized that in Vietnam’s foreign policy, Denmark is always regarded as an important partner, and Vietnam is keen to effectively implement the partnership frameworks that have been established between the two countries. He noted that bilateral cooperation is expanding comprehensively and effectively across all areas, especially in the strategic areas of climate change and environmental protection.

Both host and guest welcomed the positive developments in the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark in recent years. They agreed that the two countries should continue to effectively implement the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and work to encourage the parliaments of other EU member states to swiftly ratify the EU - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

Ha suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in areas where Denmark has strengths and which align with Vietnam’s development priorities, especially in renewable energy, green growth, infrastructure development, marine economy, and circular economy.

Both sides agreed to strengthen exchanges of high-level parliamentary delegations, and establish Parliamentary Friendship Groups to exchange and share information and experiences in the areas of legislation and oversight.

Ha suggested that the Danish Parliament and Government continue to create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Denmark to live and work, helping to strengthen its role as an important bridge in the friendly relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, He conveyed the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for Soren Gade to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time. Gade accepted the invitation with pleasure.
