PM urges rapid completion of key infrastructure projects in 2025
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged ministries, localities, project investors, and contractors to accelerate the completion of key infrastructure projects assigned for 2025, ensuring progress, quality, safety, and efficiency.
Chairing the 22nd meeting of the National Steering Committee for key national projects in the transport sector in Hanoi on December 9, the Prime Minister praised the proactive efforts of ministries, local authorities, project management boards, contractors, engineers, and workers in undertaking major infrastructure projects in 2025.
He noted that many major projects such as the Bai Vot – Cam Lo Expressway, Van Phong – Nha Trang Expressway, and Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 had been completed ahead of schedule.
These achievements contributed significantly to socio-economic development and the government’s target of over 8% GDP growth in 2025, he said.
Despite unusual weather, including subsequent storms and tropical depressions that caused widespread flooding and damage to property, the Prime Minister highlighted the spirit of “rapid, bold, proactive, and dynamic action”, demanding that remaining projects with substantial workloads be completed as quickly as possible.
He instructed the designated ministries and local authorities to resolve land clearance, material, and logistical challenges efficiently, with the goal of completing 3,000 kilometres of expressways and approximately 1,700 kilometers of coastal roads by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Chinh also stressed the need to maintain construction quality, safety, and environmental standards, while safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the people. Oversight measures to prevent corruption and inefficiency must be strictly enforced, with rewards for outstanding teams and individuals and sanctions for violations.
The planned inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies on December 19, 2025, must be well-organised, aesthetically sound, and in compliance with procedural requirements, he ordered.
Regarding Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1, the Prime Minister requested that the project’s managing agencies, especially Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), urgently review remaining works and prepare detailed plans to ensure technical flights on December 19 and commercial operations from early 2026.
Looking ahead to projects for the 2026-2030 period, the Prime Minister directed responsible agencies to promptly prepare and submit investment policies for routes including Bac Kan – Cao Bang, Hoa Binh – Moc Chau, Cam Lo – Lao Bao, Quang Ngai – Kon Tum, and to accelerate land clearance and contractor selection to meet the set timelines.
For projects carried over to 2026, he said, the ministries and localities must mobilise manpower, machinery, and equipment to ensure timely completion.
Prime Minister Chinh also emphasised the importance of clearly defined responsibilities according to the “six clarities”: clear person, task, timeline, responsibility, authority, and output. This approach is intended to guarantee that key national infrastructure projects are completed on schedule and to standard, contributing to public investment disbursement, job creation, new urban and industrial development, reduced transport costs, and enhanced economic competitiveness ahead of the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year holidays.
