New Government of Vietnam comprises 14 Ministries, 3 ministerial-level agencies
VOV.VN - The National Assembly of Vietnam on April 7 approved a resolution on the organisational structure of the government for the 2026-2031 tenure, with full support from all attending deputies.
The new government will comprise 14 ministries and 3 ministerial-level agencies.
The resolution was adopted during the first session of the 16th National Assembly following presentations, verification reports, and discussions. A total of 488 out of 488 deputies present voted in favour, representing 97.6% of all National Assembly members.
Under the resolution, the government structure includes key ministries in charge of national defence, public security, foreign affairs, finance, industry and trade, construction, education and training, health, and others. The three ministerial-level agencies are the State Bank of Vietnam, the Government Inspectorate, and the Government Office.
National Assembly deputies are set to elect key state positions during the afternoon sitting on April 7, including the Prime Minister, Vice President, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.
Following the elections, the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice will take the oath of office before the National Assembly and deliver their inaugural remarks.
Earlier the same day, the National Assembly elected Party General Secretary To Lam as President for the 2026–2031 term. He was sworn in and delivered his inaugural address immediately afterward.
