National Assembly to review 2026 socio-economic performance, 2027 targets
VOV.VN - The National Assembly of Vietnam is scheduled to discuss the implementation of the country’s 2026 socio-economic development plan and the proposed plan for 2027 on October 30, alongside the state budget and public investment, as lawmakers review economic performance and consider priorities for the coming year.
The discussions will take place during the second session of the 16th National Assembly, with the proceedings broadcast live on television and radio.
Lawmakers will review the implementation of the 2026 socio-economic development plan and examine the proposed targets for 2027. The agenda also includes the implementation of the 2026 state budget, the 2027 state budget estimates and central budget allocation plan, and progress on public investment in 2026 alongside the proposed investment plan for next year.
The discussions will provide an opportunity for deputies to examine the implementation of the Government’s socio-economic policies, including the use of public resources and the priorities set for the next planning period.
Growth targets and policy priorities
The Government’s report on the implementation of the 2026 socio-economic development plan and its proposed plan for 2027, presented by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung at the opening of the session on October 17, provides the basis for the National Assembly’s review.
Vietnam has proposed targeting economic growth of at least 10% in 2027, while maintaining macroeconomic stability and controlling inflation, according to the Government’s plan.
Achieving rapid and sustainable growth will require continued attention to the quality of growth, the mobilisation and effective use of resources, and the implementation of strategic development priorities.
The National Assembly’s review will cover not only headline economic performance but also the relationship between development targets, state budget planning and public investment. These areas are closely linked, as public spending and investment allocation help determine the resources available to implement national development priorities.
Budget and public investment under review
Alongside the socio-economic development plans, deputies will discuss the implementation of the state budget in 2026, the proposed budget estimates for 2027 and the allocation of the central budget.
They will also examine the implementation of the 2026 public investment plan and the proposed plan for 2027, as well as the final accounts of the state budget for 2025.
The agenda includes a review of the implementation of National Assembly Resolution No. 66, dated November 29, 2013, and the completion of the Ho Chi Minh Highway project with a two-lane design.
Following the discussions, Government members are scheduled to explain and clarify issues raised by National Assembly deputies.
The deliberations form part of the National Assembly’s consideration of Vietnam’s socio-economic performance in 2026 and its development priorities for 2027.
