Key lawmakers to debate many bills in new meeting

VOV.VN - The National Assembly Standing Committee that comprises key lawmakers of the legislature will discuss many bills in a new meeting that is due to open in Hanoi on October 7.

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man will deliver the opening remarks and, along with the Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, take turns chairing the discussions.

Among the bills to be tabled for discussion are those on management and investment of state capital in enterprises; teachers; digital industry; public investment (amended); public-private partnership investment; bidding; accounting; independent auditing; state budget; management and use of public assets; tax administration; national reserves; and data.

The lawmakers will also debate amendments and supplements to certain provisions of the Law on Oversight Activities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils; the Law on Planning; and the Law on Securities.

During the four-day session, the National Assembly Standing Committee will give opinions on a draft resolution of the National Assembly regarding the organization of urban administration in Hai Phong city; and a draft resolution of the National Assembly to pilot a mechanism for handling evidence and property during the investigation, prosecution, and trial of criminal cases.

The committee will look at Government reports on the results of the socio-economic development plan for 2024 and the proposed plan for 2025; the implementation of the state budget for 2024 and the allocation plan for 2025; the implementation of the public investment plan for 2024 and the proposed plan for 2025; as well as the financial plan for 2024 and the proposed plan for 2025.

The lawmakers will review and provide opinions on the investment policy for the National Target Program on Cultural Development for 2025-2035; examine and decide on the adjustment of the public investment plan from the central budget for 2024; offer opinions on the proposed adjustment of the land use planning for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050; and look at preparations for the coming year-end session of the National Assembly.

They will also review personnel affairs and approve a proposal to appoint Vietnamese ambassadors abroad.
