VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked ministries, sectors, and localities to make a greater effort in 2025 to achieve even greater results than in 2024, while chairing a meeting of key Government members in Hanoi on February 3 to review the recent Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) and discuss post-holiday socio-economic tasks.
It’s reported at the meeting that social welfare was well ensured, the economy remained stable, and security and order were maintained during the nine-day break. The holiday was celebrated joyfully, safely, and economically, aligning with Party and Government directives.
Accordingly, no major disease outbreaks or food poisoning incidents were recorded, while hospitals ensured proper medical care.
More than 13.5 million needy people received Tet gifts, totaling VND7.943 trillion. More than 6,962 houses were provided for policy beneficiaries, and nearly 35,466 houses were built under the anti-slum programme.
Goods supply remained stable, with spending increasing by 10% compared to normal months.
About 411 traffic accidents occurred, down 228 cases from last year, while law enforcement handled over 49,500 violations. No major cybersecurity incidents were reported.
The tourism industry recorded 19% growth as many as 12.5 million holidaymakers traveled to tourist attractions nationwide on this occasion.
The PM praised ministries, sector and localities for their thorough preparations to hold joyful, wholesome, warm, and meaningful Lunar New Year celebrations nationwide, thereby generating excitement, motivation, and momentum for the entire country.
He noted that the Government has outlined 13 key task groups, comprising 67 specific tasks, and urged ministries, sectors and localities to implement them effectively at the beginning of the year. He also requested government members to exert their efforts with clear thinking, strong determination, significant dedication, and decisive actions, aiming to achieve higher results in 2025.
It is essential to closely monitor the supply-demand dynamics and market prices of essential goods and services in the post-Tet period to promptly implement measures that balance supply and demand and stabilize market prices, he said.
He requested that public investment continue to be accelerated, particularly for key national projects and programmes. There must be a firm and effective effort to streamline and optimize the organizational structure of government agencies.
Efforts should be intensified to stimulate business production, create jobs and livelihoods for the people, and strive to achieve a GDP growth target of at least 8% in 2025, he stressed.
As the festival season has begun, the PM called on relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, to organize festive activities in a safe and joyful manner and free from wastefulness or superstitious practices.
