Xi Jinping’s Vietnam visit is to further enhance strategic trust, says spokesperson
VOV.VN - Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian has said the upcoming state visit to Vietnam by Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping will give both countries the chance to further strengthen traditional friendship and enhance strategic trust.

Xi will pay a state visit to Vietnam on April 14-15 at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam.
Vietnam is part of Xi’s ASEAN tour that will also take him to Malaysia and Cambodia.
This is Xi’s first overseas visit of the year that carries great significance in promoting the development of relations with Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia, as well as enhancing overall China-ASEAN relations, Lin said at a press briefing in Beijing on April 11.
At the same time, he said, the trip is expected to generate new momentum for regional and global peace and development.
According to the spokesperson, China and Vietnam are friendly neighbouring countries that both follow the socialist path. Both countries are promoting reform and innovation in accordance with their respective national conditions. Strengthening solidarity and cooperation serves the common interests of the two sides.
Lin recalled that Xi paid a historic visit to Vietnam in December 2024, elevating China-Vietnam relations to a new chapter aimed at building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
Since last year, the two countries’ top leaders, ministries and localities have maintained regular meetings and contacts, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
Lin highlighted that Xi’s visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, which holds great significance for bilateral relations. During the visit, Xi will hold talks and meet with senior Vietnamese leaders, namely General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
China looks forward to working with Vietnam to take this visit as an opportunity to strengthen traditional friendship, enhance strategic trust, deepen practical cooperation, and advance the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance in a more substantive and meaningful way, he affirmed.
This, in turn, will contribute more to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, he added.
