Vietnam steps up meticulous preparations for UN Day of Vesak 2025
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh on April 16 chaired a meeting to review preparations for the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025, which will be hosted by Vietnam.
The meeting aimed to ensure the event is held in a solemn, dignified, and absolutely safe manner, leaving a lasting and positive impression on participating delegations and countries.
Highlighting the importance of the occasion, Deputy PM Chinh requested relevant ministries, sectors, and localities to strictly implement approved plans and measures, and effectively follow the directives of the Party Central Secretariat and the Prime Minister. He also underlined the need to provide full support and guidance to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in organising the event as scheduled.

He affirmed that the UN Day of Vesak 2025 will offer a valuable opportunity to promote the image of a beautiful country with a peace-loving, friendly, and united people and rich cultural heritage. It also serves as a platform for international exchange, cooperation, and a reaffirmation of Vietnam’s role and responsibility within the United Nations and the global community.
This marks the fourth time Vietnam hosts the UN Day of Vesak, following previous editions in 2008 in Hanoi, 2014 in Ninh Binh, and 2019 in Ha Nam. This year’s event will take place in Ho Chi Minh City.
