Vietnamese Party leader warmly welcomed in Beijing

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping of China on October 31 hosted a welcoming ceremony for Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who is in Beijing for an official visit to China.

The welcoming ceremony was held solemnly at the Great Hall of the People according to the highest ritual for the head of state.

The two leaders reviewed the guard of honour while the national anthems of Vietnam and China were played.

Shortly after the ceremony, both leaders held talks on measures to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and China.

Trong’s visit is taking place just after China’s successful organization of its 20th national Party congress. During the October 16-22 gathering, Xi was re-elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

In a congratulatory letter on October 23, Trong expressed his wish to meet with the Chinese leader soon to discuss future cooperation orientations between the two Parties, States and peoples.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai, Trong’s China visit will help strengthen political trust between the two Parties and countries, contributing to elevating bilateral relations to new heights.

The visit is of great importance to promoting and deepening the Vietnam - China relations amid complicated and unpredictable developments regionally and globally, said the diplomat.

China Daily reports that Nguyen Phu Trong is the first foreign leader to visit China following the freshly concluded 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

This is also the first foreign trip by the Vietnamese leader after he was re-elected at the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in early 2021.
