Party chief arrives in Beijing, beginning China visit
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his delegation arrived in Beijing on October 30 afternoon, starting an official visit to China at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
Those welcoming the Vietnamese Party leader at the Beijing airport included Liu Jianchao, head of the International Liaison Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai along with other Vietnamese Embassy staff.
The official visit of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the invitation of CPC General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping took place after the successful conclusion of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, with the new leadership being announced and Xi Jinping re-elected as Party General Secretary for the third term.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has become the first foreign leader to visit China, showing the importance of the relationship between China and Vietnam as well as between the CPC and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The visit by Party leader Trong is to highlight the foreign policy, including the affirmation of Vietnam’s consistent advocate of taking the relations with China as a top priority in its external policy, wishing for long-term, stable, and more effective and practical relations in the spirit of the common perceptions by high-ranking leaders of the two parties and states; and at the same time to make clear Vietnam’s concerns, just stance and legitimate interests.
It is to express support to the development advocates and ideologies of the 20th congress of the CPC beneficial to peace, cooperation, and development; and the “leading nucleus” position of General Secretary Xi Jinping established by the CPC.
It is also to promote China’s policy on friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.
As planned, an official welcoming ceremony for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be solemnly held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on October 31, with General Secretary President of China Xi Jinping hosting the event.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two Party leaders will hold high-level talks and witness the signing of many important documents.
