Vietnam and Laos pledge closer cooperation in mass mobilisation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Laos will deepen cooperation in public communications and mass mobilisation as both countries prepare for their upcoming national Party congresses.
The commitment was made during a meeting in Hanoi on December 5 between Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of the Party’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and Inlavan Keobounphanh, a member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Standing Vice President of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC).
Quyet said Keobounphanh’s visit comes at a meaningful time, as both countries are preparing for their next Party congresses, adding that the trip would help reinforce trust, linkages and cooperation between the two agencies.
Marking the 50th anniversary of Laos’ National Day, he conveyed congratulations to the Lao Party, State and people, expressing confidence that Laos would successfully organise its 12th National Party Congress and continue to achieve new socio-economic development goals.
Quyet highlighted the achievements Laos has made under its 11th Party Congress resolution and its ninth five-year socio-economic development plan, saying they reflect strong Party leadership and national unity. He called for stronger cooperation in the coming period, particularly in sharing experience on mass mobilisation, building social consensus, strengthening public trust in the Party and State, and expanding coordination in public communications that promote the Vietnam-Laos special relationship among youth, civil organisations and the political system.
For her part, Keobounphanh said she was impressed by activities marking major historical celebrations in Vietnam this year. She stressed that Laos and Vietnam have always supported each other throughout struggles for independence and national development, describing their friendship as inseparable under all circumstances.
She said the LFNC has recently expanded training programmes for officials in both online and direct formats and compiled professional manuals for grassroots-level staff. She proposed that the Vietnamese commission continue to support training for Lao media and communications personnel, noting that 2025 is the final year of the current bilateral cooperation agreement. She recommended that both sides begin drafting a new memorandum of cooperation for the next phase.
After the meeting, officials from both agencies held working sessions to review cooperation results and discuss future priorities, focusing on mass mobilisation, ethnic and religious affairs, and the role of the Front in strengthening national solidarity.
