Vietnam and China pledge to deepen party-to-party ties
VOV.VN - China and Vietnam pledged to deepen party-to-party ties and expand practical cooperation in trade, infrastructure and technology during talks in Beijing on February 4.
Vietnam’s Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held talks with Liu Haixing, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Head of the CPC Central Committee’s International Department, during the former’s ongoing visit to Beijing.
Trung, who is also special envoy of Party General Secretary To Lam, briefed China on the outcome of Vietnam’s recent 14th Party Congress, saying the political event was a great success.
He reaffirmed that Vietnam regards ties with China as a top priority in its foreign policy. He said Vietnam stands ready to work closely with China to further elevate relations between the two parties and countries in a more substantive and effective manner.
Liu, who visited Vietnam in late January 2026 as the special envoy of Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, welcomed Trung’s visit and said the practice of both parties dispatching special envoys to exchange congratulations and brief each other on congress outcomes has become a valuable tradition, reflecting a high level of political trust.
He conveyed the CPC Central Committee’s congratulations on the congress and expressed his belief Vietnam would successfully implement its resolution under the leadership of the party and General Secretary To Lam.
Liu stressed that the Communist Party of China, led by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, stands ready to work closely with the Communist Party of Vietnam led by General Secretary To Lam to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership and advance the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Both sides agreed that under the strategic guidance of top leaders, bilateral relations have continued to develop positively, with deeper political trust, expanding practical cooperation and growing people-to-people exchanges.
They vowed to step up coordination between the two parties’ foreign affairs bodies, strengthen high-level exchanges and make greater use of party channels to guide cooperation across sectors.
Trung called for breakthroughs in areas where both sides have strengths and demand, including balanced and sustainable trade, expanding China’s imports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, high-quality Chinese investment linked to technology transfer and workforce training, railway connectivity and deeper cooperation in science and technology.
Liu said the CPC’s International Department is ready to work closely with Vietnam’s foreign affairs authorities to implement high-level consensus and enhance exchanges on party-building, governance experience and personnel training.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and pledged to contribute responsibly to peace, cooperation and development.
