Welcoming Governor-General Mostyn, Prof. Thang emphasised the upgrade of Vietnam–Australia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with cooperation in human resources training and knowledge sharing identified as a key pillar.
He said that the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics has established numerous effective cooperation mechanisms with leading Australian universities and research institutes. The Vietnam–Australia Centre (VAC) at the Academy was set up to serve as a knowledge bridge, promoting joint research, academic exchanges, and programmes to train leadership and management personnel. Recent field survey programmes for strategic-level officials exemplify the success of this cooperation.
The Professor thanked to the Australian Government, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, universities, research institutes, and Australian partners for supporting Vietnam in training personnel and sharing knowledge. He expressed his belief that the achievements in cooperation would provide a solid foundation for mutual understanding, strategic trust, and the promotion of sustainable friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
For her part, Governor-General Mostyn affirmed that Vietnam is one of Australia’s important partners in the region, and bilateral relations have been steadily strengthened in recent years with practical and effective results. In particular, cooperation in personnel training as well as knowledge sharing is a key focus of collaboration, receiving special attention from both sides.
Emphasising the importance of building a strong cadre in today’s multicultural international environment, Governor-General Mostyn expressed confidence that the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Vietnam–Australia Centre would continue to serve as key academic hubs, expanding programmes for leadership and management training. This would further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia, making it deeper, more practical, and more effective.
During the meeting, both sides discussed priority areas of cooperation, including public sector reform, knowledge sharing among senior leaders, education, and sustainable development. Currently, Vietnam–Australia cooperation is also expanding into national governance, climate change response, energy transition, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development, contributing to a shared vision of a comprehensive, sustainable, and prosperous future for both countries.
