Top legislator pushes for stronger Vietnam – Laos audit cooperation
VOV.VN - National Assembly Tran Thanh Man voiced his strong support for enhanced cooperation between the two State audit offices of Vietnam and Laos, during his reception for Viengthavisone Thephachanh, chairman of Laos’ State Audit Organisation, in Hanoi on July 17.
The National Assembly Chairman congratulated Laos on its remarkable achievements in socio-economic development, national defence, and political system building, highlighting the pivotal role of the State Audit Organisation of Laos in these successes.
He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to nurturing the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, as well as between their state audit agencies.
The National Assembly of Vietnam supports the enhanced cooperation and experience sharing between the State audit offices of Vietnam and Laos across various field, he said.
He proposed that the State audit offices of Vietnam and Laos continue closely coordinating the implementation of the mid-term cooperation plan for 2025-2028 and effectively executing the 2021-2030 cooperation strategy, to help deepen and strengthen the partnership between the two agencies.
He emphasised the need to increase the exchange of professional expertise, especially in digital transformation, digitalization of audit operations, and capacity-building training for staff, while strengthening efforts in anti-corruption, combating negativity and wastefulness, and expanding cooperation with international audit organisations.
For his part, Thephachanh expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s continued support, including training programmes, infrastructure investment, and digital modernisation initiatives such as the e-office project. Both audit offices have actively coordinated to organise knowledge-sharing seminars on audit recommendations and their involvement in the annual state budget planning cycle, reflecting Laos’ expanded audit responsibilities following constitutional reforms.
He welcomed Man’s proposals, and affirmed that the State Audit Organisation of Laos would closely cooperate with the State Audit Office of Vietnam to effectively implement cooperation programmes. He also expressed confidence that Vietnam would successfully achieve its set national development goals.
