President Luong Cuong urges closer solidarity and cooperation with China

VOV.VN - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong called for strengthened solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and China during his meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, in Beijing on September 4.

President Cuong, who was paying a working visit to China from September 2-4, appreciated the presence of the high-level delegation from the Communist Party and State of China, led by Chairman Zhao, as well as the People’s Liberation Army at Vietnam’s 80th August Revolution and National Day celebrations on September 2. He highly valued Zhao’s successful first official visit to Vietnam in his current position, which has significantly strengthened cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies.

President Cuong also praised China’s successful organisation of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing on September 3, commended China’s strong development under the leadership of the Communist Party, and emphasised that the participation of senior leaders from both Parties and countries at each other’s major events vividly reflects the deep trust and solid relationship between the two sides.

Chairman Zhao warmly welcomed President Cuong’s leadership of the Vietnamese delegation to the September 3 celebration in China and congratulated Vietnam on the successful organisation of its 80th National Day celebrations. He expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm and thoughtful reception extended by the Vietnamese Party, State, and National Assembly to the Chinese delegation during their recent visit.

President Cuong reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of prioritising the development of Vietnam-China relations and called on both Parties and countries to enhance solidarity and cooperation.

Highlighting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a key pillar of bilateral relations, President Cuong congratulated both sides on the successful first meeting of the Vietnam-China Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. He urged the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People’s Congress of China, as the highest legislative bodies, to continue facilitating political trust and promoting effective, substantive cooperation across sectors to support mutual development and strengthen the social foundation of bilateral ties.

Chairman Zhao fully agreed with President Cuong’s proposals, affirming that the National People’s Congress of China highly values and is ready to closely coordinate with the National Assembly of Vietnam to effectively implement the common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries. He proposed enhancing high-level exchanges and optimising the effectiveness of important cooperation mechanisms such as the Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee and the “3+3” strategic dialogue covering diplomacy, defence, and public security at the ministerial level.

He also emphasised the need to boost cooperation in new promising fields including science and technology, strategic transport infrastructure connectivity, tourism, education, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people interactions, with the goal of consolidating a solid foundation of public consensus for China-Vietnam relations.

Chairman Zhao stressed the importance of promptly organising the first meeting of the China-Vietnam Joint Railway Cooperation Committee to enhance practical cooperation effectiveness and strengthen the solid social foundation for bilateral ties.
