Developing relations with China is an objective necessity, says President of Vietnam
VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong has reaffirmed that strengthening relations with China is an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam’s overall foreign policy.

President Cuong made the statement during his meeting in Beijing on September 4 with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in China.
He emphasises that fostering a strong, cooperative relationship with China meets Vietnam’s long-term, fundamental interests, and is a key factor in building a favourable environment for Vietnam to realise its national development goals by 2030 and its long-term vision for 2045.
Providing updates on his official meetings in China, President Cuong reported that his talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping yielded important results in reinforcing political trust, expanding practical cooperation, addressing obstacles, and managing differences – all in the interest of peace, cooperation, and development.
Amid a rapidly changing and complex global and regional landscape, the President noted that the top leaders of both countries reached a shared understanding on the importance of continued cooperation and the need to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, moving toward building a Vietnam–China Community with a Shared Future of strategic significance.
To that end, President Cuong called on the Vietnamese Embassy in China to effectively implement foreign policy tasks, with a focus on strengthening political trust and advancing bilateral relations in a stable, sustainable, and substantive manner. He asked the diplomatic agency to promote economic diplomacy with a people- and business-centred approach, and enhance cultural diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges, and citizen protection efforts, especially for the Vietnamese community and students living and studying in China.
He also commended the Embassy staff and Vietnamese representatives in China for their dedication and efforts in fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Party and State, particularly in implementing political diplomacy, economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, citizen services, and safeguarding national sovereignty over seas and islands.
At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community in China expressed their delight at welcoming President Cuong on the occasion of his visit to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and engage in official activities in China.
After sharing insights into their lives, work, and integration into the local society, they emphasised their continued trust in the leadership of the Party and State, and the country's development directions in this new era.
They also pledged to stay united, support one another, preserve the Vietnamese cultural identity and traditions, and always look toward the homeland with pride and affection.
