President Luong Cuong meets with Vietnamese expatriates in Egypt
VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Egypt on August 4, as part of his ongoing State visit to the African country.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung shared that the Vietnamese community in Egypt comprises around 70 people, including families living and working in the country, engineers and workers at Vietnam-funded projects, and students pursuing their studies. The community remains united, supportive of one another, and strongly connected to their homeland.
Representatives of the community expressed their honour and joy at welcoming the President and affirmed their commitment to preserving Vietnamese cultural traditions, supporting one another, and contributing to both Egypt and Vietnam-Egypt relations. They also voiced their hopes for continued attention from the Party and State.
President Cuong extended his warmest regards and appreciation to the community for their solidarity, respect for local laws, and efforts to integrate into Egyptian society. He praised the Embassy for its support of overseas Vietnamese affairs.
He emphasised that his visit aims to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation. He said Vietnam is entering a new era of development, with goals to become a modern industrialised nation with upper-middle income by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.
President Cuong stressed that achieving these goals requires not only political will at home but also contributions from overseas Vietnamese. He encouraged the community to preserve Vietnamese language and culture, integrate well into the host country, and support Vietnam-Egypt ties.
He also said he would propose that Egyptian leaders provide better conditions for Vietnamese people living and studying there. He urged the Embassy to continue enhancing support for the community, particularly by engaging young people and promoting initiatives that connect them with their roots.
