President Luong Cuong hosts banquet in honour of Hungarian President Sulyok
VOV.VN - Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and his spouse hosted a formal state banquet in Hanoi on May 28 in honour of Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok and his spouse, who are paying an official visit to Vietnam.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Cuong highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries, recalling that Hungary was among the first ten countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950 - a gesture of great support during Vietnam’s most difficult times in its struggle for national independence.
The President emphasised Vietnam’s deep gratitude for Hungary’s consistent support, both during wartime and in the country’s current process of development and modernisation.
He expressed satisfaction with the positive growth of bilateral relations, noting significant progress across many areas, from politics to economic cooperation, with two-way trade reaching nearly US$1 billion last year. Bilateral cooperation in defence, security, culture, tourism, agriculture, labour, and education has also been strengthened.
Cuong shared that during his open, sincere, and productive talks with Sulyok earlier the same day, both sides reached consensus on major directions and practical measures to further enhance cooperation. The two leaders agreed to deepen the Comprehensive Partnership in a substantive, effective, and sustainable manner, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples.
He also voiced strong confidence that the 75-year friendship, combined with great cooperation potential and the determination of both countries’ leaders and peoples, would elevate Vietnam–Hungary relations to new heights, for the prosperity of both countries and for peace and stability in the region and the world at large.
Sulyok, for his part, shared his appreciation for the richness of Vietnamese culture and the deep affection the Vietnamese people hold for Hungary.
He affirmed that Vietnam is Hungary’s key partner in politics, science, culture, technology, and economics. He emphasised that the mutual respect and achievements both countries have built together form a solid foundation for future cooperation.
He stressed that in today’s increasingly complex global landscape, the stable and sincere bilateral relationship between Hungary and Vietnam is more valuable than ever. Vietnam’s impressive progress in recent years, he said, serves as a role model for many countries, particularly in terms of economic and cultural development.
Sulyok expressed hope to welcome Cuong to Hungary in the near future, to further bolster strong and growing partnership between the two countries.
