President Tamas Sulyok warmly welcomed in Hanoi on official visit to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his spouse hosted a welcoming ceremony in Hanoi on May 28 morning for Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok and his spouse during their official visit to Vietnam from May 27 to 29.

This is Sulyok’s first visit to Vietnam in his role as head of state. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950 - 2025), marking a milestone in their longstanding friendship.

Over the past 75 years, the bilateral relationship has flourished across various fields including politics, economy, education, legal affairs, culture, sports, and people-to-people exchanges. Hungary regards Vietnam as a key partner in Southeast Asia, and the two countries elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Partnership in September 2018.

Political and diplomatic cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary has deepened in recent years, based on mutual trust and understanding. The countries closely collaborate at multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), strengthening the foundation for expanding cooperation in trade, education, culture, tourism, labour, science and technology, environment, agriculture, and water management.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the two Presidents held talks to review past cooperation and discuss future directions to further strengthen Vietnam – Hungary relations.
