PM Pham Minh Chinh receives Cambodian Senate president Hun Sen
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Cambodian People’s Party President and Senate President Hun Sen in Hanoi on September 2 during the latter’s visit to Vietnam for its 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

PM Chinh warmly welcomed Hun Sen and the Cambodian delegation, highlighting the historical significance of Vietnam’s National Day and the long-standing solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the trilateral ties among Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
He praised Cambodia’s achievements in political stability, economic development, and its growing regional and international role, and expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Cambodia people’s Party led by Hun Sen, Cambodia would continue to achieve greater success in building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous nation.
Vietnam strengthens comprehensive, long-term cooperation with Cambodia, he assured his guest.
The PM also highlighted the participation of Cambodian and Lao delegations in the historic parade at Ba Dinh Square, describing it as a strong source of encouragement and support for Vietnam.
For his part, Senate President Hun Sen expressed his honour and pleasure at attending Vietnam’s 80th anniversary celebrations, emphasising the event’s significance as a testament to national unity in Vietnam’s long struggle for independence. He praised Vietnam’s socio-economic and foreign policy achievements under the Communist Party’s leadership, and said he believes in Vietnam’s future development, projecting it would become a modern industrialszed country with high average income by 2030 and a developed, high-income economy by 2045.
Both leaders welcomed the results of frequent high-level exchanges, noting the close ties between their Parties and States. They affirmed the comprehensive bilateral cooperation across ministries, sectors, and localities, which contributes positively to the socio-economic development of both countries. They agreed to promote public awareness of the historical value of the Vietnam–Cambodia and Vietnam–Cambodia–Laos friendships, expand trade and market access, and strengthen tourism and border connectivity.
Prime Minister Chinh requested President Hun Sen’s support in facilitating key cooperative mechanisms, including the 13th Vietnam–Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, the 13th Border Provinces Cooperation and Development Conference in Cambodia, the 2nd Vietnam–Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange, and the annual trilateral meeting of Vietnam–Cambodia–Laos Defence Ministers. He also emphasised the importance of facilitating investment and trade, increasing Vietnamese exports of cement, steel, and construction materials, completing land border demarcation, and ensuring the Vietnamese community in Cambodia can live securely while contributing to the country’s prosperity and the enduring friendship between the two countries.
