PM discusses aviation cooperation with Embraer leadership in Brazil

At the meeting, Serrador noted that since Chinh’s visit to the group’s aircraft manufacturing facility in September 2023, Embraer has been working with Vietnamese partners such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet to expand cooperation.

He said that the group had previously supplied aircraft for the route from Hanoi to Con Dao in Vietnam and had operated five Embraer planes in the country in collaboration with Bamboo Airways from 2020 to 2023.

He also briefed Chinh on Embraer’s operations and discussed strategies as well as commitments for cooperation in multifunctional aviation for both commercial and military purposes with Vietnam in the near future.

For his part, Chinh congratulated the group on its effective business activities over the past year, and said since his visit last year, the relationship between the two parties has made significant progress. The Vietnam-Brazil relationship continues to develop positively, providing a strong foundation to further promote economic, investment, and trade cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, including Embraer.

According to the PM, Vietnam holds many advantages for developing the aviation industry, including its strategic geographic location in the center of Southeast Asia, with a flight network connecting to most dynamic economies in the region. The Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route is considered one of the busiest domestic flights in the world. The country is also focusing on enhancing investments in aviation infrastructure and related connectivity projects.

He encouraged the group to research and continue discussions with Vietnamese partners like Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet to pursue specific cooperation activities that would bring tangible benefits to both sides.

The PM shared that in the coming time, Vietnam will focus on developing maritime space, underground space, and aerospace, and that the country aims to establish an aviation transit center. He expected that Embraer would provide consultations with Vietnam in this area.

He suggested that the group should collaborate in areas such as trade, transportation, establish maintenance and repair centers for aircraft, and train human resources.

He acknowledged Embraer’s proposals and urged the group to continue close collaboration with relevant Vietnamese agencies to address existing challenges and explore opportunities for market expansion in the country.

Founded in 1969, Embraer is a multi-industry group primarily operating in aviation and aerospace. It is the world’s third-largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft, after Airbus and Boeing, with three main product lines: narrow-body aircraft (E175, E190), military aircraft (C-390, R-99), and personal/business jets.

To date, Embraer has produced over 8,000 aircraft, with an output of approximately 150 aircraft per year and a global workforce of more than 19,000 employees. In 2023, the group’s revenue exceeded $US5.3 billion, representing an 11% increase year on year.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Rio de Janeiro on November 16, beginning a working trip to Brazil and activities of the G20 summit at the invitation of Brazilian President and G20 Chair Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
