Party leader To Lam pledges to deepen Vietnam – China strategic trust
VOV.VN - Vietnam vows to work alongside China to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and to advance the building of the joint community with a shared future of strategic significance in a new, more substantive, and sustainable stage.
To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, made the statement during his reception in Hanoi on November 13 for Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Secretariat, and Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.
He congratulated the Communist Party of China on the successful convening of the fourth plenum of its 20th Party Central Committee and the adoption of the orientation for the 15th five-year plan - an important transitional stage for China to continue pursuing its long-term development goals.
He emphasised that the high-level theoretical exchange mechanism between the two Parties, maintained over the past 20 years, has contributed greatly to enhancing political trust and sharing experiences in Party leadership and national governance.
General Secretary Lam highly appreciated the success of the recent 20th theoretical symposium themed “The Path and Practice of Socialism in the 21st Century,” in Hanoi, considering it a vivid example of the two Parties’ substantive cooperation and shared determination to explore models of socialist development suited to each country’s conditions.
Expressing satisfaction with the positive progress in Vietnam–China relations, General Secretary Lam highlighted the outcomes of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping’s recent important visit to Vietnam, reaffirming that Vietnam always attaches great importance to and gives top priority to strengthening ties with China.
In the new era of development for both countries, he underscored the need to consolidate political trust, enhance strategic coordination, and deepen practical cooperation in all fields.
The Party chief proposed that both sides focus on strengthening the special role of Party-to-Party exchanges; improving the effectiveness of coordination mechanisms at all levels; promoting balanced and sustainable trade; expanding cooperation in science and technology, especially in emerging sectors; fostering high-quality human resource training; and enhancing cultural, educational, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges to reinforce the social foundation of bilateral relations.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for mutual development.
Li, for his part, spoke highly of the achievements Vietnam has made over the years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He affirmed that China always regards Vietnam as a priority direction in its neighborhood diplomacy and is willing to work closely with Vietnam to effectively implement high-level agreements and shared understandings, strengthen political trust, and advance substantive cooperation across multiple fields.
He briefed his host on the results of the 20th theoretical symposium, saying the two sides had successfully coordinated the organisation of this special symposium, held in accordance with the common understanding reached between the two General Secretaries, which provided a profound and comprehensive exchange on the path toward socialism in both countries in the new era of development.
The Chinese official affirmed that the theoretical and publicity agencies of the two Parties will continue to strengthen coordination, share experiences on Party building, state governance, and communication, and promote friendship-oriented exchanges. These efforts, he said, will help enrich the substance of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and further build a Vietnam–China Community with a shared future of strategic significance.
