Laos and Cambodia laud Vietnamese Party leader’s contributions to fostering relations
VOV.VN - Laos and Cambodia have praised Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s outstanding contributions to cultivating the close relations between Vietnam and their countries, as well as between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party and the Cambodian People’s Party.
Former General Secretary of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith extended his condolences to Vietnamese people over the recent passing of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, during a recent interview granted to VOV correspondents in Vientiane.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a staunch communist, a visionary leader and an eminent diplomat who devoted his entire life to revolutionary activities and the cause of Renewal of the Communist Party of Vietnam, said Vorachith.
The Vietnamese General Secretary always paid close attention to and made positive contributions to preserving and cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and people of Laos and Vietnam, added the Lao leader
He also acknowledged Nguyen Phu Trong’s role in fostering the Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia relations through the summit meeting of leaders of the three countries’ ruling parties, contributing to strengthening relations between the three countries in the new era.
Meanwhile, the Cambodian People’s Party also lauded the Vietnamese General Secretary’s contributions to enhancing cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam
Since Nguyen Phu Trong took the role of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2011, relations between Cambodia and Vietnam have been increasingly strengthened and developed, bringing benefits for the people of both countries, said Sok Eysan, spokesperson for the Cambodian People’s Party.
Nguyen Phu Trong had inherited and promoted the legacy built and nurtured by previous leaders in the close bond between Cambodia and Vietnam, he noted.
The spokesperson recalled Vietnam’s valuable assistance to Cambodia in overthrowing the Pol Pol genocidal regime in 1979, and said the Party, State and people of Vietnam under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also kept providing assistance to Cambodia in later periods.
Those recorded gains serve as the legacy and extremely valuable experience for future elite leaders in continuing to preserve the relationship of solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two brotherly countries, he stressed.
