Vietnamese Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong passes away

VOV.VN - Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, passed away in Hanoi on July 19 at the age of 80.

Despite intensive care, the Party chief passed away at 01:38 p.m. on July 19, 2024 at Central Military Hospital 108 in Hanoi due to his old age and serious illness, said an agency in charge of taking care of ranking officials’ health.

The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front will soon release a special communiqué on the funeral for the Party chief.
