Vietnam and China reaffirm commitment to deepening close partnership

VOV.VN - Both Vietnam and China have vowed to work hard to further strengthen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, making it deeper, more substantive and effective toward building a joint community with a shared future of strategic significance.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting in Hanoi on August 31 between Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam and Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC)

Vietnam always considers developing relations with China as an objective necessity and a strategic priority in its independent and self-reliant foreign policy, Party leader Lam told his guest who was paying an official visit to Vietnam for the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

He conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other key Chinese leaders, while thanking the Chinese Communist Party for sending a high-ranking delegation led by top legislator Zhao to Vietnam to attend the country’s 80th National Day, as well as for sending a military contingent to participate in the military parade.

Sharing Vietnam’s historic achievements over the past 80 years, the Party leader affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam always remember and appreciate the profound and sincere support from the Communist Party of China and its people. Amid global uncertainties, he said, the two countries have maintained stability and development in their relations, achieving remarkable results, with increasingly substantive and deepened cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People’s Congress of China.

He proposed that both sides continue to consolidate political trust, coordinate strategically, and deepen cooperation through Party, Government, National Assembly, and Front channels, as well as in key areas such as public security, defence, and diplomacy. He also suggested enhancing economic and scientific-technical cooperation, especially in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, nuclear energy, 5G, and 6G, while promoting people-to-people exchanges to strengthen the social foundation of bilateral relations.

For his part, Chairman Zhao Leji respectfully conveyed greetings and best wishes from Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to General Secretary To Lam, expressing support for Vietnam in successfully organising the 14th National Party Congress and achieving national goals of renovation, industrialisation, and modernization. He affirmed that China attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam, regarding it as a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy, and is ready to cooperate in implementing the outcomes of President Xi’s state visit to Vietnam early this year.

On the East Sea issue, General Secretary To Lam proposed that both sides continue to manage and resolve disagreements more effectively, respect each other’s legitimate interests, and jointly maintain a peaceful and stable environment, so that the two socialist countries can focus on promoting a new era of development for their peoples.

Echoing the host’s view, Zhao affirmed that China is ready to work with Vietnam to strengthen political trust, deepen substantive cooperation, enhance strategic connectivity between the two economies, and expand collaboration in culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, while jointly managing and better resolving disagreements, and together maintaining peace and stability at sea, creating a favourable environment for the development of each country.

He said during the visit, both sides would convene the first session of the Cooperation Committee between the two parliaments, marking a new milestone in legislative cooperation and contributing practically to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of the two parties and two countries in the new era.
