Retail petrol prices fall slightly as global oil trends fluctuate

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, announced a slight reduction in petrol prices, effective from 3 PM the same day.

E5RON 92 is now priced at no more than VND19,807 per litre, a decrease of VND37 compared to the previous price adjustment a week ago, and is VND735 cheaper than RON 95.

RON 95 does not exceed VND20,542 per litre, marking a reduction of VND34 from the current base price.

Diesel oil is now capped at VND19,826 per litre, down VND38 from the base price. Similarly, Mazut oil is priced at no more than VND13,739 per kilogram, a reduction of VND335.

However, kerosene sees an increase, priced at no more than VND20,288 per litre, up VND353 from the base price.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance decided not to use the Price Stabilisation Fund for any of the fuel products during this cycle.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the global oil market from November 13-19 was influenced by several factors. OPEC+ agreed to a slight increase in oil production in December, following similar increases in November and October. OPEC has projected that global oil supply will meet demand by 2026.

Meanwhile, the reopening of US operations and ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, including recent Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, have led to fluctuations in global fuel prices.

Based on the global fuel price trends, fluctuations in the VND/USD exchange rate, and current regulations, the authorities decided on the price adjustments to ensure domestic fuel prices remain in line with global trends.

The price adjustment strategy maintains a reasonable price gap between E5RON 92 biofuel and RON 95 petrol to encourage the use of biofuels in accordance with the government's policy, while also ensuring a balance of interests among market participants.
