HalalViet center launched to boost Vietnamese participation in global Halal supply
VOV.VN - The HalalViet Promotion and Experience Center was officially launched in Hanoi on May 15 and is expected to become a hub for trade connectivity, certification support and digital transformation to help Vietnamese businesses integrate more deeply into global Halal supply chains.
The center was established by the Institute for Strategy and Policy Studies of Industry and Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with Hanoi Xanh Cooperative (HalalViet).
The launch ceremony drew representatives from ministries and agencies, embassies of Muslim countries, international Halal organizations and the export-import business community.
According to organizers, the global Halal market is expanding rapidly and is now worth trillions of US dollars, with growth spreading from food products to cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, tourism, logistics and e-commerce.
Vietnam, meanwhile, is considered to boast huge potential to deepen its participation in Halal supply chains thanks to its agricultural strengths, abundant raw materials and strategic location within ASEAN.
However, Vietnamese businesses continue to face challenges in meeting technical standards and accessing an integrated support ecosystem for the market.
The HalalViet center is envisioned as a platform linking trade, culture and technology in the Halal sector, helping businesses better understand standards, prepare certification documents and expand ties with international buyers, certification bodies and partners.
Alongside its physical experience space, HalalViet also plans to develop the HalalViet.com e-commerce platform to facilitate global B2B and B2C transactions while integrating product data and traceability systems.
In his speech at the event, Nguyen Van Hoi, Director of the Institute for Strategy and Policy Studies of Industry and Trade, said the lack of information connectivity platforms and a coordinated trade ecosystem remains one of the biggest obstacles facing Vietnamese businesses entering the Halal market.
Meanwhile, Ba Thi Nguyet Thu, Director of Hanoi Xanh Cooperative, said modern Halal consumers are paying increasing attention to transparency, traceability and social responsibility throughout supply chains.
Vietnam aims to move beyond supplying raw materials and gradually become a regional hub for deep processing, innovation and standardization of Halal products, she added.
