Businesses upbeat about post-Congress policy agenda
VOV.VN - Vietnamese businesses across multiple sectors have expressed strong confidence in the outcomes of the recent 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, saying the Congress’s strategic directions are reinforcing expectations for a more transparent, stable and predictable investment environment.
Key policy orientations on improving market economy institutions, promoting the private sector, advancing science and technology, fostering innovation and accelerating digital transformation are seen as critical drivers for Vietnam’s next phase of growth.
Many business leaders believed 2026 would mark the first year of comprehensive implementation of the Congress Resolution, opening a new cycle of institutional reform and stronger policy execution.
Nguyen Van Quyen, director of Ao Tien International Port in Van Don Special Economic Zone, Quang Ninh province, said local enterprises are closely watching changes in the investment and business climate, particularly policies tailored for special economic zones.
“Specific and flexible support mechanisms are essential for Van Don to develop in a coordinated and sustainable manner,” Quyen said. “At the same time, new investors should be offered appropriate incentives to enhance the zone’s attractiveness and mobilise both domestic and foreign capital.”
In the seafood sector, one of Vietnam’s key export industries, businesses said the Congress’s focus on governance capacity, international standards compliance and sustainable development could help remove long-standing bottlenecks, including the European Union’s “yellow card” warning over illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Trinh Ngoc Nam, deputy director of FXPT Seafood Import-Export Company in Thanh Hoa province, said he expects concrete progress following the Congress.
“If the IUU yellow card is lifted in line with international regulations and conventions, Vietnamese seafood enterprises will have greater opportunities to expand exports and strengthen their presence in European markets,” Nam said.
Business associations also voiced optimism about clearer and more consistent policy implementation.
Nguyen Ngoc Quang, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Rural Industries, said the new Congress term is expected to bring more favourable conditions for business development.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Quoc Hiep, chairman of the Vietnam Construction Contractors Association, said the Resolution adopted by the Congress needs to be translated into practical, enforceable policies that are applied uniformly across all levels of government.
In Da Nang, the business community said it is ready to expand investment and operations as long as regulatory frameworks remain transparent and stable.
Nguyen Vinh Tran, vice chairman of the Da Nang Business Association, said the city is well positioned to remain an attractive destination for large-scale domestic and foreign investors in the coming years.
Overall, Vietnam’s business community said the success of the 14th National Party Congress would ultimately be measured by the effectiveness of institutional reforms, improvements in the investment climate and gains in national competitiveness.
With strong confidence in the Party’s strategic vision, businesses said they are prepared to work alongside the Government to turn the Congress Resolution into tangible growth momentum as Vietnam enters a new stage of development and deeper global integration.
