Kazakhstan Independent Day celebrated in Vietnam

Addressing the ceremony, Kazakh Ambassador to Vietnam BeketzhanZhumakhanov said during this short historical period Kazakhstan has made significant achievements in both the international arena and in social and economic development of the country.

The country has established diplomatic relations with 180 countries worldwide, joined key international organizations, and has framed its land borders.

Over the last 25 years, Kazakhstan has made a "locomotive" of integration processes in the Eurasian space, joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), initiated the adoption by the General Assembly of the United Nations Universal Declaration on the construction of a nuclear-free world, became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in its 2017-2018 term and so on.

He added bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Vietnam are developing quite dynamically and are on a qualitatively new stage.

The cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan has received a positive development in all spheres, especially in the political, economic, trade and investment.

There were visits at the highest levels, the fundamental inter-governmental agreements were signed, which serve as the basis for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation.

One of the highlights of Kazakhstan’s economic cooperation is the Agreement on free trade between the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which entered into force on 5 October 2016.

This Free Trade Agreement is the first preferential agreement in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The document provides for the reduction or "zeroing" about 90% of import duties - either as soon as the Agreement enters into force, or through periods of transition - on the majority of commodity items.
