World Cultural Festival in Hanoi rescheduled amid severe storms and floods

VOV.VN - Organisers of the first Cultures of the World Festival in Hanoi have decided to postpone the event amid recent severe storms, floods and landslides in the Northwest and North Central regions that have caused heavy human and property losses.

Originally scheduled for October 3-5, the festival will now take place from October 10-12 to share in the difficulties faced by affected communities and ensure thorough preparation. The opening ceremony is planned for the evening of October 10 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Conservation Centre in Hanoi.

On September 30, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Official Dispatch No. 5085 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People’s Committee regarding the schedule adjustment. The Ministry affirmed that relevant agencies will closely coordinate and make concerted efforts to ensure the festival’s success, contributing to cultural exchange and promoting Vietnam’s image to the international community.

The first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event will bring together diverse cultural colours of Vietnam and nations from around the world, uniting in the capital under the theme “Culture as Foundation, Art as Means,” a message to all peoples worldwide.

It is designed to intensify people-to-people exchanges, strengthen mutual understanding and trust, and affirm Vietnam’s contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to global peace and prosperity.

The programme will include Hanoi World Culture Day, an international food festival, folk dance and fine arts performances, international fashion and an Ao Dai festival, a global book fair, and film screenings.

Nearly 50 embassies, international organisations and foreign cultural centres in Vietnam have registered to take part in the festival.
