Vietnam–Denmark art contest promotes green awareness among youth
VOV.VN - An award ceremony and exhibition for the “Denmark in Your Eyes” painting competition 2025–2026 were held on April 2 to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark, helping promote messages of green living and sustainable development among young people.
The event was co-organised by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and the Vietnam–Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA), with the participation of representatives from central and local authorities, jury members, partners and award-winning students from across the country.
Themed Green Living, this year’s competition attracted more than 130,000 entries from primary and secondary school students nationwide, the highest number recorded to date.
A total of one special prize, two first prizes, four second prizes, eight third prizes, 50 consolation prizes and 21 promising prizes were awarded, along with seven collective awards for outstanding institutions.
Trinh Yen Nhi, a fifth-grade student at Hoang Dieu Primary School and one of the prize winners, said she used fabric and clay to create her artwork, aiming to convey a message about wildlife protection and the prevention of extinction. She spent about a week completing the piece, noting that finding suitable materials was the most challenging part.
The submitted works vividly reflected young people’s perspectives, ideas and sense of responsibility toward environmental issues and climate change. Many entries demonstrated creativity in both concept and execution, incorporating diverse materials, including recycled items, while delivering practical and relatable messages.
Painter Nguyen Huu Hanh, a member of the jury, said the overall quality of entries this year was high, showing careful investment and independent thinking. He noted that the value of each artwork lies not only in technique but also in the harmony between emotion, ideas and age-appropriate expression.
Speaking at the event, Mette Ekeroth, Deputy Ambassador of Denmark to Vietnam, highlighted that through art and creativity, students not only express their aspirations for a greener future but also affirm their role in shaping it, thereby contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
The competition is among the activities marking the 55th anniversary of Vietnam–Denmark diplomatic relations, contributing to people-to-people exchanges, particularly in culture and education.
The year 2026 also marks a decade since the competition was first launched in 2016. Over the past ten years, the initiative has become a meaningful cultural and educational platform, fostering creativity and raising students’ awareness of environmental protection and sustainability.
With its wide reach, the contest continues to serve as a bridge for cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark, while helping instill environmental awareness and action among younger generations in pursuit of sustainable development.
